Staatsburgh State Historic Site is emblematic of the great country estates built in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to house America’s wealthiest families. Referred to locally as Mills Mansion, the site actually encompasses many structures and portions of the former estate farm and the designed landscape along the Hudson River. The grounds are also known as Mills Memorial State Park, which is open every day, from sunrise to sunset, with no fee to enter the park.
The site offers house tours of the 1895 Beaux-Arts mansion, designed (and enlarged from an earlier, ancestral home) by Stanford White. It also has many different programs, for audiences of all ages, including special themed tours presented by guides in period clothes, a "Gilded Age Tea & Talk" series, landscape tours, craft and family programs, and more.
